The Claims Portal – a service mandated by the Ministry of Justice to process personal injury claims between £5,000 and £25,000 – has partnered with CRIF, Europe’s leading provider of digital transformation solutions, to improve its user experience by migrating to a brand new cloud-based solution.

The partnership – which was first established in 2009 – now draws on the CRIF Foundation Framework (CFF), a flexible, agile and innovative business process management service designed for customer onboarding and digital workflow management. This comes at a time when insurance claims are on the rise, with a record of £9.9 billion in motor claims paid out last year, with £2.4 billion of this being for personal injury. *

Existing application-to-application (A2A) users benefit from a full A2A interface backward compatibility with no disruption, while improvements brought by the new system will include the release of a modern Restful API interface along with the provision of a developer portal to streamline and simplify users' backend software integration and maintenance over time.

Customer experience with the new Claims Portal service has also been improved with additional functionalities and better navigation, furthermore it will be ready to host and operate additional connectivity with other external services.

The Claims Portal and CRIF teams worked closely together to successfully migrate services to the new cloud-based system, which went live in May 2024.

Originally introduced in 2010, the Claims Portal is designed to make the personal injury claims process simple, secure and unbiased, allowing individuals to self-manage claims from start to finish without charge.

The new developments in technology modernise the service and provide users with a safe and secure electronic means of communication to submit and manage personal injury claims.

Sara Costantini, Regional Director for the UK & Ireland at CRIF, said:

“The Claims Portal is an essential service for users who need to process personal injury claims. We are very happy the migration was a success with minimal impact on users. This extends our partnership with Claims Portal driving innovation, offering value-added cloud-based services and improving user experience at the same time.”

Phil Dicken, Chair, Claims Portal Limited, said:

“Claims Portal has a long and successful history of working with CRIF.  This latest upgrade is another example of the commitment, professionalism and reliability of CRIF as CPL's IT business partner.  The team worked diligently to ensure minimum disruption to CPL's Users and as a result the deployment was a great success.  We now look forward to working closely with CRIF on the next phase of the upgrade project, migrating user connectivity to the new Restful API.”
